Obama says government is what made America great!

Obama once again says government made America great?

"I will not reduce our deficit by sacrificing the things that have always made America great. The things that have made Americans prosper. I won't sacrifice our investments in education. I will not sacrifice those. I won't sacrifice our investments in science and basic research. I won't sacrifice the safety of our highways or our airports. I won't sacrifice our investment in clean energy at a time when our dependence on foreign oil is causing Americans so much pain at the pump. I will not sacrifice America's future. That I will not do." --Barack Obama

Obama Demagogues the Tax Issue by Invoking Warren Buffett

Obama recently said that he needs to raise taxes on the "rich" so that people like Warren Buffett will pay higher taxes. However, Mr. Buffett as CEO of Berkshire Hathaway, has control over his salary, and has kept it so low that none of Obama's new taxes will inflict him. His salary is currently $100,000. In the Wall Street Journal, Obama has been quoted as saying:

“The point is, for the vast majority of Americans," Mr. Obama said, "every dime you earn, you're paying some in Social Security. But for Warren Buffett, he stops paying at a little bit over $100,000 and then the next $50 billion he's not paying a dime in Social Security taxes. So if we just made a little bit of an adjustment in terms of the cap on Social Security, that would do a significant amount to stabilize the system."

Warren Buffett only makes $100,000, so Mr. Obama could increase payroll taxes enormously, and Mr. Warren Buffett would not owe a single dime more in tax. What is even more outrageous is Obama’s contention that Warren Buffett makes $50 billion in a single year. How could that be possible? Berkshire Hathaway’s market cap is $203 billion, so a salary of $50 billion would mean that 24% of the assets of Berkshire Hathaway would be transferred to Mr. Buffett in the form of salary each and every year. Meanwhile, in the process, the market cap would inevitably decline as a result of such a high salary. But Obama doesn’t really care about facts. If it helps him argue for higher taxes, he is more than happy to provide such an argument. Meanwhile, if the public agrees with Obama’s gross distortion of the issue, with the expectation that a higher tax would "punish" Buffett then they are in for a surprise as these higher taxes only hurt those who aspire to become wealthy.

President Obama talks like a valley girl.

"The Oval Office, I always thought I was going to have really cool phones and stuff. ... I'm like, 'C'mon guys, I'm the president of the United States. Where's the fancy buttons and stuff and the big screen comes up?' It doesn't happen." – President Barack Hussein Obama.

I was told this president was so intelligent.  But he sounds more like a valley girl if you ask me.

Paul Krugman endorses government rationing of health care.

We have to do something about health care costs, which means that we have to find a way to start saying no.  In particular, given continuing medical innovation, we can’t maintain a system in which Medicare essentially pays for anything a doctor recommends.” – Paul Krugman in the New York Times.

This is ironic because the liberals have been arguing that private health insurance companies are evil for denying health care treatment.  Now Paul Krugman, a liberal, is endorsing a government politburo that will ration health care for millions of Americans!  But that has always been the purpose of the statists.  They want to be in control over health care, not because they love the people, but rather because they despise the people and want to use the government to ration their liberty.  Thus, the purpose of Medicare is not to extend health care to the elderly, but rather to ration their care.

Obama says America was not great before 1965!

Obama said America was not a great country until we were a large welfare state.  Does this sound like a man who loves American ideals like capitalism and individualism?

From Obama’s speech on the budget:

“[W]e contribute to programs like Medicare and Social Security, which guarantee us health care and a measure of basic income after a lifetime of hard work; unemployment insurance, which protects us against unexpected job loss; and Medicaid, which provides care for millions of seniors in nursing homes, poor children, and those with disabilities. We are a better country because of these commitments. I’ll go further – we would not be a great country without those commitments.”

Isn’t that outrageous!?

Rand Paul brings up Ayn Rand’s novel “Anthem” during Energy and Natural Resources Committee hearing.

Rand Paul brings up Ayn Rand’s novel Anthem during an Energy and Natural Resources Committee hearing.  Essentially, Rand Paul says that one of the book’s philosophical ideas, that government officials want to restrict choices and freedom within society, can be applied to those who decided to ban the incandescent light bulb.

Most Americans don’t care if the non-essential aspects of the government gets shut down. Bring on the shut downs!

The media is acting as though most Americans care whether "non-essential" government services will be shut down if there isn't an agreement on the federal budget. I know I don't. That means only the "essential," constitutional functions of government will continue to operate. That's what we want anyway!

Democrat Party Legacy

The Democrat Party is the party of slavery, forcing Indians off their native lands, segregation, internment of Americans of Japanese ancestry, destruction of urban industrial areas like Detroit, wars that do not have any strategic national security interests (Kosovo, Libya) and forcing mostly minority children into schools where no learning whatsoever will take place. What a legacy.
