“We have to do something about health care costs, which means that we have to find a way to start saying no. In particular, given continuing medical innovation, we can’t maintain a system in which Medicare essentially pays for anything a doctor recommends.” – Paul Krugman in the New York Times.
This is ironic because the liberals have been arguing that private health insurance companies are evil for denying health care treatment. Now Paul Krugman, a liberal, is endorsing a government politburo that will ration health care for millions of Americans! But that has always been the purpose of the statists. They want to be in control over health care, not because they love the people, but rather because they despise the people and want to use the government to ration their liberty. Thus, the purpose of Medicare is not to extend health care to the elderly, but rather to ration their care.
